Gay Florida, LGBT Community, Fight for Marriage Equality

Same-Sex Florida Couples and gay marriage advocates are taking to social medial to advocate marriage equality in light of the recent favorable rulings on DOMA and California’s Proposition 8 cases. Last week the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act as being unconstitutional.  Now thousands of federal benefits only awarded to heterosexual marriages will be afforded to married gay couples in states and Washington D.C. where same-sex marriages are legal.

Equality Florida, a group focused on attaining legal recognition and equality for all persons and all relationships established a website entitled, “imengaged.org” (I’m engaged).  This website is reaching out to gay and lesbian couples to support the push in overturning the Florida ban on same-sex marriage.

According to several sources, “almost three-quarters of America now believes that marriage equality is inevitable in the next few years, coast to coast”.
